New Pages Detected Metric

A guide to explain the New Pages Detected metric

Updated today

In this guide we'll explain the New Pages Detected metric.

What is the New Pages Detected metrc?

The New Pages Detected metric is simple:

Our system detects when a new page is added to an XML sitemap for an existing project and tags is as a new page. We then track the page detection date for the page URL so it can be used to filter index reports.

Put simply, we detect when we find newly published pages in your XML sitemaps when we download them on a daily basis. And tag them as new pages in our system.

How does New Pages Detected work?

The New Pages Detected metric works by using your XML sitemaps.

When our system detects a new page URLs that is added to your XML sitemaps for an existing website project, we flag it as a new page. And we timestamp when it was detected in our system.

Our scheduler then prioritises these pages to be inspected. So, your team can see the indexing states of new pages (and you don't have to wait).

If a page URL was added via a CSV file we do not count it as a newly published page.

Where can I view the New Pages Detected?

How can I use the New Pages Detected metric?

If you're interested in the indexing state of newly published pages this filter is critical.

The New Pages Detected metric can be applied to filter your index reports to identify the index state of newly published pages in the last X days of being published.

To apply the filter you need to go to an index report like the Index Coverage report.

Navigate to the filter and select a time period to filter on (Yesterday, 3 Days, 7 Days, 30 Days).

Based on the Page detection date we'll filter the report on newly published pages detected in your sitemap in the data table.

So you can see the indexing states of newly published pages.
