Learn how to add web properties at scale

Updated over 2 weeks ago

How to add web properties at scale:

  1. Go to the “Add Web Properties” page

  2. Paste a list of subdirectory URLs

  3. Validate and add web properties

Please be aware that when you add web properties in Indexing Insight, they are added to your Google Search Console account.

Learn more about property settings.

Step 1: Go to Add Web Properties page

From your website’s dashboard, click on the website you want to add web properties.

Then click on the web properties settings.

In the Properties setting page, click on the “Add Web Properties”.

This will take you to the Add Web Properties page.

Step 2: Paste a list of subdirectory URLs.

Now you must copy and paste a list of valid subdirectory URLs into the tool.

To do this, please go to your website and identify all of the important subdirectories you want to monitor. Then copy and paste the URLs into the tool.

Please include the protocol (https://) and the domain (example.com) of the domain property.

I’ve provided a few examples of what this would look like for different types of websites.

Ecommerce

For example, if you worked at Decthlon.co.uk you would want to copy and paste the following subdirectory URLs:

Listing

For example, if you worked at RVShare.com, you would copy and paste the following subdirectory URLs:

Publishing

For example, if you worked at thetimes.com you would copy and paste the following important subdirectory URLs:

SaaS

For example, if you worked at Canva.com, you would copy and paste the following subdirectory URLs:

Step 3: Validate and Add Web Properties

You must validate the properties before you can add them to our.

For a web property to be validated, it must:

  1. Include the protocol (https://), and

  2. The domain (example.com) of the project’s domain property.

If the subdirectory or subdomain does not meet this criteria, they will not be validated. And you won’t be able to add them to your account.

For example, if you added the .com version of the domain it won’t be added.

Once you are happy with the web properties you want to add, you can add them to your project.

You will be redirected back to the Properties settings page, where you will see the new web properties. They will have the status of ‘Pending’ as they will be added to your Google Search Console account. And our scheduler will map the web properties as part of the next inspection.

If you add hundreds of web properties, our tool can take hours to add them to your Google Search Console account, as the Google API is slow.
