This article explains how to use the URL Upload feature to add or remove page URLs from Indexing Insight.

What is the URL Upload feature?
The URL Upload feature allows customers to manually add or remove a list of URLs that they want to monitor.
It allows customers to monitor a list of URLs without needing our tool to download page URLs from an XML sitemap.
How to add URLs to Indexing Insight
The URL Upload feature is easy and simple to use.
Please follow these steps to upload a list of URLs:
Gather a list of page URLs you want to monitor
Download the CSV template from Indexing Insight
Copy and paste the page URLs into the CSV template
Upload the CSV file to the URL Upload feature
Review to make sure the upload was successful
Step 1) Gather a list of page URLs you want to monitor
Gather a list of important page URLs you want to monitor with Indexing Insight.
These page URLs can come from a variety of sources, including:
Google Search Console
Google Analytics
Screaming Frog
Etc.
Step 2) Download the CSV template from Indexing Insight
Next, download the CSV template from the URL Upload page.
Step 3) Copy and paste the page URLs into the CSV template
Then, copy and paste your list of gathered page URLs into the url
column in the CSV template. Remember to keep url
in row A1.
Note: Please make sure that the page URLs added to the sheet contain the project's domain property and the HTTP protocol.
Step 4) Upload the CSV file to the URL Upload feature
When you've got your CSV file ready, you can now upload the .csv file to the URL Upload feature...
...and wait for it to be uploaded.
Note: The more URLs you upload the longer it will take. Please do not close the tab until the upload progress has completed.
Step 5) Review to make sure the upload was successful
Finally, when you've uploaded the URLs you will get a success message and more information of how many URLs have been uploaded to the tool.
Please review the URL states that are shown. There are 3 common URL states when adding URLs:
URL State | Description |
Downloaded | The total number of URLs successfully downloaded from your CSV file and added to the download list. |
Not Downloaded | The total number of URLs that were not downloaded from your CSV file. |
Duplicates | Duplicate URLs found in the CSV file that were not successfully downloaded because they are already downloaded from your XML sitemap. But we have added them as both a URL Upload and XML Sitemap source. |

How to remove URLs to Indexing Insight
The URL Upload feature is easy and simple to use.
Please follow these steps to remove URLs that have been added:
Gather a list of page URLs you want to remove
Download the CSV template from Indexing Insight
Copy and paste the page URLs into the CSV template
Upload the CSV file to the URL Upload feature
Review to make sure the removal request was successful
Step 1) Gather a list of page URLs you want to monitor
Gather a list of page URLs you want to remove from Indexing Insight.
You can use the Index Coverage report to identify the list of URLs you want to remove by using segments or the filter.
Step 2) Download the CSV template from Indexing Insight
Next, download the following Remove CSV template.
This template contains a second column action
.
To remove URLs from Indexing Insight you will need to include remove
for each URL in the spreadsheet (see screenshot below).
Step 3) Copy and paste the page URLs into the CSV template
Once you've got the template, copy and paste your list of gathered page URLs in the url
column in the CSV template. Then add remove
to each row with a page URL.
That's it! You're now ready to upload the list of URLs to Indexing Insight.

Step 4) Upload the CSV file to the URL Upload feature
When you've got your CSV file ready, you can now upload it to the URL Upload feature...
...and wait for it to be uploaded.
Note: The more URLs you upload the longer it will take. Please do not close the tab until the upload progress has completed.

Finally, when you've uploaded the URLs you will get a success message and more information of how many URLs have been uploaded to the tool.
Please review the URL states that are shown. There are 2 common URL states when removing URLs:
URL State | Description |
Removed | The total number of URLs removed from your download list. |
Source Updated | The total number of URLs that have been removed from the CSV Upload source but are still found in your XML sitemaps. |
